Am I allowed to fly there?

Basic rule

Permit required

You may only fly here with a permit issued by the authorities in advance.

Foreign drones may only be imported and flown with prior permission from the Civil Aviation Directorate (CAD).

Operator registration

Depends on drone or operation

Instead of registration, as a tourist you need a CAD permit; entry in the Serbian register is required for heavy drones and special flights.

Your EU registration is not automatically valid here.

Competency certificate
Your EU competency certificate is not automatically recognised here. Whether you need a separate one isn't in the country rules – please check with the authority.
Insurance

Required

For the permit and for registered drones, third-party liability insurance covering Serbia is required.

Remote ID & marking
No information – please check with the authority.
Maximum altitude
100 m
Special rules

For tourists

Apply for the CAD permit before your trip, because according to the German Foreign Office drones may only be imported and used with prior permission. The German operator ID and EU certificates do not replace it. You may not photograph military sites.

Batteries on the plane

  • Spare batteries in hand luggage only – each one protected against short circuits (terminal caps, original packaging or its own bag).
  • Up to 100 Wh: no approval needed.
  • Over 100 up to 160 Wh: only with the airline's approval, at most 2 spare batteries.
  • Over 160 Wh: not allowed on passenger aircraft.

Enter your battery's Wh – they are printed on the battery.
