Drone rules: Belarus
Last checked: October 5, 2026
Flight ban
You may not fly here at present: operating drones is generally prohibited in this country. The details below are for context only — they do not permit a flight.
Since presidential decree No. 297 of September 2023, import, possession and operation of civilian drones by private individuals are prohibited; the German Foreign Office also warns against travel to Belarus.
There is no registration for private individuals because they may neither import nor operate drones; only organisations and entrepreneurs can register.
For tourists
Do not take a drone to Belarus: import by private individuals is prohibited and violations are punished. There is a travel warning, and even photos of military or strategic sites can lead to arrests.
Further rules
- Important: Since Presidential Decree No. 297 of 25 September 2023, private individuals in Belarus are prohibited from importing, storing, trading, operating and manufacturing civilian drones and model aircraft.
- Only organisations and sole proprietors may use drones: they must enter them in the state register, mark them and have every flight cleared by the competent authorities. Violations can lead to confiscation and fines; a repeat offence within one year can lead to imprisonment of up to two years.
- For travellers and recreational pilots, this means in practice: you shouldn't take a private drone to Belarus at all.
