Drone rules: Venezuela

As of: October 5, 2026

Flight ban

You may not fly here at present: operating drones is generally prohibited in this country. The details below are for context only — they do not permit a flight.

Since August 2025, flying, buying, importing and registering private drones has been banned by government resolution; no lifting is known.

For tourists

Do not take a drone to Venezuela: import is prohibited too. The German Foreign Office advises against travel to the country and warns against travel to the border areas; generally avoid photographing security forces and public buildings.

Further rules

  • Important: since a joint resolution of several ministries of 18 August 2025 (Gaceta Oficial Extraordinaria No. 6.927), buying, selling, manufacturing, importing, training, registering and any flight operation of drones by private individuals are prohibited in Venezuela – only state security and defence bodies are exempt. The measure was justified by the security situation.
  • Whether and how often the ban has been extended since is not publicly traceable from official sources; reports up to spring 2026 assume it continues, and no lifting is known.
  • Under these circumstances, there is effectively no regular registration procedure for private or tourist users, even though the civil aviation authority INAC maintained its own drone register (RAN) before the ban.
  • So for your trip to Venezuela: it is better not to bring your own drone. There is currently no legal way for tourists to fly there, and given the tense security situation there is also a risk that a device will be classed as a security threat on entry and withheld.

This overview is not legal advice and not an official statement — laws change, and we cannot guarantee that every entry is fully up to date. Before your flight, please also check the official source or the local civil aviation authority.
