Drone rules: Tajikistan
Last checked: October 5, 2026
Permit required
You may only fly here with a permit issued by the authorities in advance.
Possessing or using drones without permission from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) is prohibited; no procedure for tourists is officially described.
According to the US State Department, drones must be registered with the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and you need prior permission from the government.
For tourists
No practical route for holidaymakers is known, and your German registration does not count. Best leave the drone at home. The German Foreign Office strongly advises against travel to all border areas with Afghanistan, where explosive-laden drones are also used.
Further rules
- According to the UK Foreign Office, possessing or using drones without permission from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) is prohibited; according to the US State Department, drones must be registered there. There is no published procedure for tourists; permits reportedly go mainly to companies and state film crews.
- Such a permit must already be in place before you enter the country; without it, importing a drone is clearly illegal, with a correspondingly high risk of confiscation at customs.
- No-fly zones cover, among other things, airports, military installations, police stations, border crossings and government buildings – even photographing these areas can lead to immediate arrest.
- Flying without permission risks detention and confiscation of your equipment, according to the UK Foreign Office.
- For a trip to Tajikistan, the rule is therefore: better not to take your drone at all. There is no practical legal way for short-term tourists.
