Further rules

  • In Poland, you register as a drone operator via drony.gov.pl with the civil aviation authority ULC – mandatory from 250 grams take-off weight or for any drone with a sensor capable of capturing personal data.
  • You only register once, in the EASA state where you live – the EASA area comprises the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Your operator ID is then valid throughout the EASA area: if you are already registered in another EASA country, you don't need a second registration in Poland. Only if you live outside the EASA area do you register in the EASA state where you first fly.
  • Since November 2025, third-party liability insurance has been required in Poland from as little as 250 grams take-off weight, with minimum cover of 50,000 special drawing rights – previously, as is usual across the EU, the 20-kilogram threshold applied.
  • In the open category, the maximum flight height is 120 metres above ground; for obstacles taller than 120 metres, an extra allowance of up to 15 metres is permitted with the owner's consent and a horizontal distance of at least 50 metres.
