Flight ban
You may not fly here at present: operating drones is generally prohibited in this country. The details below are for context only — they do not permit a flight.
Under Law No. 1230 of December 2024, importing and using drones requires prior authorisation from the Ministry of the Interior, which is only granted for narrowly defined purposes. According to the German Federal Foreign Office, import and use are not permitted, and the police can confiscate devices.
No registration procedure for private users has been published; import and use require an individual authorisation from the Ministry of the Interior.
For tourists
Leave your drone at home: according to the German Federal Foreign Office, import is not permitted and the police can confiscate the device. The Ministry of the Interior only grants authorisations for science, rescue operations and tourist, recreational, sports and cultural events, not for ordinary holiday flights.

- Important note: under Law No. 1230 of December 2024, importing and using drones in Nicaragua is only allowed with prior authorisation from the Ministry of the Interior. Authorisations are granted exclusively for scientific studies, search and rescue operations, and tourist, recreational, sports and cultural events.
- There is no regular registration procedure for private users.
- In practice, this means for travellers: do not take a private drone to Nicaragua – the law does not provide for authorisation of ordinary holiday flights.
