Drone rules: Morocco
Last checked: October 5, 2026
Flight ban
You may not fly here at present: operating drones is generally prohibited in this country. The details below are for context only — they do not permit a flight.
According to the German Foreign Office, importing drones of any kind is strictly prohibited. Customs confiscate the drone and violations are prosecuted – even for drones under 250 g.
For tourists
Leave your drone at home. Without an import licence issued in advance, customs will confiscate the drone, and there is no licensing procedure specifically for tourists.
Further rules
- Import ban: According to the German Federal Foreign Office, importing drones of any kind into Morocco is strictly prohibited. This applies regardless of size and weight – including small drones under 250 g in your hand luggage.
- Customs will confiscate the drone on arrival, and violations are prosecuted. Some travellers have got their drone back on departure, but there is no right to that – don't count on it.
- The Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade publishes an application form for a drone import licence, for companies and private individuals; among other things, it requires a copy of the Moroccan national identity card (CINE), technical documents and details of the intended use and flight locations. It does not mention a procedure specifically for tourists, and an import licence is not a flight permit. That is why there is no information on flight altitude, registration or insurance.
- So for a trip to Morocco: leave your drone at home.
