Further rules
- Liechtenstein has no drone law of its own but fully adopts Swiss aviation law – the responsible authority is the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (BAZL), and registration and operator IDs are handled via the same platform (dLIS) as in Switzerland.
- You only register once, in the EASA state where you live – the EASA area comprises the EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Your operator ID is then valid throughout the EASA area: if you are already registered in another EASA country, you don't need a second registration in Liechtenstein. Only if you live outside the EASA area do you register in the EASA state where you first fly.
- For drones from 250 grams, third-party liability insurance with minimum cover of 1 million Swiss francs is required; you must carry proof of insurance when flying.
- Permanent no-fly zones apply around government buildings in Vaduz – the current restricted areas are shown on the BAZL drone map, which also covers Liechtenstein.
- Questions about permits and exemptions are answered by the Amt für Bau und Raumplanung, Bereich Zivilluftfahrt.
