Flying is allowed, but with conditions you need to know before you travel.
From 250 g you must register with the Georgian aviation authority GCAA and attach the registration number to the drone; the German operator ID does not apply in Georgia.
An insurance requirement for recreational flights is not officially documented; liability insurance for drones still makes sense.

For tourists
Plan the Georgian registration before the first flight: according to reports, foreigners can only do it in person at the GCAA in Tbilisi, with passport and a Georgian mobile number. Keep away from Abkhazia, South Ossetia and the vicinity of the conflict lines; the German Foreign Office strongly advises against this.

- In Georgia, drones with a take-off weight of 250 grams or more must be registered electronically with the civil aviation authority GCAA (portal uas.gov.ge); operator and drone are registered separately, and both are free of charge. The registration number must be attached to the drone before the flight. A German or other EU registration is not valid there.
- No legal insurance requirement is documented for Georgia – nevertheless, third-party liability insurance is advisable.
- Georgia closely follows the EU model: there are the same subcategories A1, A2 and A3 and a free online proof of competence from the GCAA, valid for five years. For A2 you additionally need a GCAA remote pilot certificate with practical training and a further theory exam.
- In the open category, the maximum flight altitude is 120 metres above ground level.
