Further rules

  • In Madagascar drones must be registered with the aviation authority ACM under aviation regulation RAM 10.000. Press reports mention a permit requirement from 250 grams, while the ACM itself recently stressed a permit requirement for every use – no binding exemption for light drones has been officially published.
  • You apply for registration with the ACM registration form, which you send by e-mail to acm@acm.mg or drone@acm.mg or hand in at the ACM headquarters; the form also accepts a passport number. A dedicated tourist procedure and processing times are not officially published.
  • No official information on the maximum flight altitude could be found.
  • No-fly zones apply within several kilometres of airports, over towns and crowds, around military and government facilities, and in national parks and other protected areas, where permission from the Ministry of Environment is also required.
  • According to press reports, using a drone without registration can lead to prison sentences and fines; the penalties are not officially confirmed.
  • Start the registration by e-mail well before your trip.

This overview is not legal advice and not an official statement — laws change, and we cannot guarantee that every entry is fully up to date. Before your flight, please also check the official source or the local civil aviation authority.
